Developed by renowned psychotherapist Bert Hellinger family constellation is unique method that reveals hidden family dynamics, loyalties and entanglements to come to light so that they can be worked with and healed. Many of us unconsciously take on patterns, traits, guilt amongst other things that are at times mirrored in our lives and/or relationships. In a startlingly real way, the family dynamic is accurately depicted and is recognized by the member of the family. Constellations are a way of discovering underlying family bonds and forces that have been carried unconsciously over several generations.
Throughout your life you maintain an emotional and energetic connection to your family, regardless of how physically distant you may be from them.
The experience gives a new perspective, offering you a space to find peace and healing in the context of you and your family.
How It Works
Constellations are typically done in a group setting where the participants and facilitator sit in a circle. The client who is getting his/ her constellation done will have a short interview with the facilitator regarding the issue they would like to work on. After, the client is requested to intuitively select representatives from the group that relate to their issue and place them within the circle. The client then sits and remains a witness to the process.
The facilitator allows for the entanglements to be revealed and then attempts to guide the constellation towards a resolution. It should be noted that this form of therapy helps us to work with what is, and not with what we would like it to be. Results may happen immediately for some and for others it may happen over a longer period of time.
This modality is for anyone who may have…
- Unrecognized blocks to success, marriage, creativity, harmonious relationships
- Unresolved relationships e.g. with parent/s, partner, child
- Unresolved prominent relationships e.g. with parent, child or partner and want to harmonize these relationships
- Persistent money/business problem
- Unexplained feelings of sadness or anger
- Feeling ‘stuck’ or ‘weighed down’ in life, not able to be oneself
- Persistent body symptoms (such as obesity, anorexia, asthma, panic attacks, ulcer colitis, cancer). This work is complementary to medical care and not a substitute for it: thorough medical assessment and treatment is of course necessary first.
- Finding it difficult to deal with an important life event such as early deaths or separations, exclusion or expulsion of a family member, major accidents or illnesses, complications during childbirth, adoptions, abortions
- There are patterns that seem resistant to change, there is a persistent sticking point in individual therapy
